Ukrainian Lawyers 2008. CLIENT CHOICE

According to the II Annual Research conducted by YUR.GAZETA (Ukrainian legal weekly) "Ukrainian Lawyers 2008. Client Choice" six of Vasil Kisil & Partners' prominent law professionals made the list of Ukraine’s top 50 lawyers.

The results of the research are comprised on the basis of surveying corporate lawyers of 650 leading Ukrainian companies who answered the following question: "Whom of the lawyers in Ukraine (apart from your employees) would you entrust solving your company’s legal problems?" VKP’s Senior Partner Vasil I. Kisil, Managing Partner Oleg Makarov, Partner and Head of Real Estate Practice Oleksandr Khomenko, Councillor Dr. Vadym Belyanevych, Councillor Dr. Tatyana Slipachuk and Senior Associate Natalia Dotsenko-Belous were named client choice based on their professional skills and personal qualities.

More over, this year, Oleg Makarov was recognized as Ukraine’s Litigation Practice Leader and Natalia Dotsenko-Belous - as a Real Estate Practice Leader, while VKP’s Senior Associate Andriy Stelmashchuk made the “Top-10 Young & Talented” list, which was put together for the very first time and highlights bright individuals under the age of 35 chosen by the editorial board of the research.

The 6th Annual legal forum summoned top players in the legal market

Kyiv, February 26, 2010. The Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) held the 6th Annual legal forum entitled “The Development of the Ukrainian Legal Services Market in 2010”.

Traditionally event attendees, representatives from over 90 leading law firms in Ukraine, Russia and Belorussia, summed up performance results of the preceding year and discussed such urgent issues as the legal market status and short-term development prospects. Considering the tough year 2009 has been for the industry, topics of interest for the attendees also included market analysis, strategic planning in the legal services market, marketing tools and pricing, financial and psychological aspects of partner relations.

Vasil I. Kisil, Senior Partner with Vasil Kisil & Partners and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UBA, opened the forum and expressed his certainty in the stable and perspective development of the legal services market in Ukraine.

Oleg Makarov, Managing Partner of the firm, Member of the Management Board of the UBA and Chairman of the Organizing Committee opened the session dedicated to topical issues on partnership at law firms: “Fettered by one chain, bound by one goal”.

Denis Lysenko, Partner with Vasil Kisil & Partners, presented his report that clearly defined and characterized factors influencing partner relations within a law firm.

The lawyers also ardently discussed competition in the legal services market and client cooperation policies, as well as strategies to be chosen to abate time and efforts taken in terms of competition.

Management aspects, modernization of instruments to manage a law firm, in-house policy at go-ahead times, and law firm planning and budgeting provoked the participants to pursue active discussions, which determined the apogee of the UBA’s 6th Annual Forum.
