On April 15 to 16, 2010, London, UK, hosted the third CIS-EU Legal Forum “EuroLawyer 2010”, which was focused on the theme “State and Business: Joint Development Perspectives”. The event was attended by approximately 200 delegates from 16 counties of the CIS and EU. The Forum was supported by state authorities and leading public organizations (the Russian State Duma, the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, the International Chamber of Commerce, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce, the All-Russian organization “Business Russia”, the European Business Association, Expert Council on PPP Legislation, etc.).
For the third consecutive year, the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce has become partner of EuroLawyer 2010. In 2010, it organized two highly professional sessions on “Investment Arbitration and Recognition” and “Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards in the CIS”. During the last session, Dr. Tatyana Slipachuk, FCIArb., delivered her speech on “Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards in Ukraine”.
This year, one of the main topics of EuroLawyer 2010 was the practice of public-private partnership in CIS and EU countries and its legal aspects. The speakers and delegates included the leading experts in this area. Vasil Kisil & Partners was represented at this session by Mr. Oleg Alyoshin who delivered a speech on “Concessions in Road Infrastructure: Ukrainian Experience”.
The Forum also addressed other vital issues such as the protection of investments in CIS and EU countries; financial market regulation in CIS and EU countries; corporate disputes in CIS countries; antitrust regulation and privatization practice in CIS countries; disputes with CIS parties in English courts; the prospects of mediation in CIS countries, etc.
