On November 27, 2009, the International Relations Institute hosted a meeting of bar leaders. The Meeting was attended by top-ranked attorneys and bar leaders, including Managing Partner of Vasil Kisil & Partners Mr. Oleg Makarov. The President of the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) and members of the Board, with most of them also running the leading bar/attorney associations in the country, attended the gathering. The Chairman of the Board Mr. I.V. Golovan presided at the Meeting.

The agenda of the meeting dealt with bar/attorney association types and structures, legal regulation of the relationship between the association and its members, legal status of the property of bar/attorney associations, distribution of revenue and expenditures, tax aspects of the activities ofbar/attorney associations, exercise of the professional rights and guarantees in regards to attorneys - bar members, activities and the execution of Legal Services Agreements by bar/attorney associations, etc. The proposal to set up the Committee for Organization and Activities of the Bar/Attorney Associations as part of the UBA has become an important outcome of the Meeting. This proposal was generally supported by the UBA Board, which, in its regular meeting held right after the conclusion of the Meeting, decided to set up a Bar/Attorney Association Committee as part of the UBA. This Committee will be chaired by the Board member Mr. I.V. Golovan
