Mykola Burmaka, Chairman of the SSMSC’s Expert Advisory Board, and Natalia Dotsenko-Belous, Associate of Vasil Kisil & Partners address hot topics related to stock market and new financial instruments to be introduced in Ukraine
On July 7, 2010, 11:00 a.m., an Internet Conference was held by Mr. Mykola Burmaka, Chairman of the Securities and Stock Market State Commission (SSMSC), and Mrs. Natalia Dotsenko-Belous, Associate of Vasil Kisil & Partners Law Firm, on the LIGA.net portal.
Topics announced by organizers provoked a vivid interest among portal users. The following issues were offered up for discussion:
- Potential introduction of new financial instruments in Ukraine.
- Stock exchanges operation.
- Information disclosure in the stock market.
- Bringing joint stock companies’ operations in line with the Law of Ukraine “On Joint Stock Companies”.
Conference participants noted that issues raised by the internet audience were very sophisticated and highly professional, which testifies to a certain level of public awareness in this sector. Natalia Dotsenko-Belous thanked all active portal users and expressed hope that experts’ answers would help all interested parties render particular investment decisions and size up the Ukrainian stock market and its development prospects.
What actions are planned to activate the Stock Market? Does Mykola Burmaka believe that shareholders will enter into agreements with depositaries? Who will pay for accounts opening, funds remittance and custody? What will happen to shares in relation to which immobilization agreements have not been executed? What should be done in relation to shareholders’ rights infringement? Why the SSMSC has not clarified in detail the shares dematerialization procedure?
